Announcing Two All-New CPE Courses
This winter, Capstan invites you to join us for two all-new CPE webinars. Featuring brand new content and special guest presenters, these unique programs are not to be missed.
Planning for 2016 from a Practical Perspective
Tuesday November 29th | Tuesday December 13th | Wednesday January 11th
12-2pm | 2.0 CPE Credits
In 1957, Dwight D. Eisenhower famously said, “Plans are nothing; planning is everything.” Life has a way of invalidating even the most novel of plans. However, the process of planning remains relevant and, in fact, essential, in every situation. While the plan itself might be tossed out in a moment, the process can always be tweaked, adjusted, reframed or restructured to overcome unexpected obstacles and achieve desired outcomes.
Beginning this November, Capstan Tax Strategies invites you to attend an all-new CPE that focuses significantly on the planning process from a practical perspective. Terri S. Johnson, Managing Partner, will be joined for the first time by Director of Engineering Ziv Carmel, to co-present a unique two-hour session designed to help you prepare for whatever 2016 may bring. Ziv will step through the thought processes that underlie his decision making, with particular emphasis on how he thoroughly “scrubs” depreciation schedules to maximize results. The CPE will feature new content and practical examples designed to illustrate the planning process in a variety of real-life situations.
With a proper understanding of the thought process used when planning tax strategies, you’ll be prepared for whatever curveballs might come your way. To register for the webinar, please click here. Alternatively, if you would like to bring this experience directly to your team, please contact us to discuss scheduling an in-house presentation.
Cost Segregation and 1031 Exchanges: A Useful Combination
Tuesday December 6th | 12-2pm | 2.0 CPE Credits
Recent legislation has expanded the utility of the cost segregation study, making the analysis more useful, and more powerful, than ever. 1031 Exchanges have also grown in popularity in recent years, and professionals have begun to explore the utility of combining both strategies.
On Tuesday December 6th, we invite you to join us for a unique learning experience. Capstan Partner Bruce Johnson will be joined by Margo McDonnell, CES®, President of 1031 Corp. and President of the Federation of Exchange Accommodators. With over 20 years of experience in the exchange industry, Margo will provide valuable insight into the utility of performing a 1031 Exchange in the context of a cost segregation study. The presenters will jointly examine the feasibility of combining these strategies, considering depreciable basis, advantageous timelines, and the question of “like-kind” exchanges when properties have significantly different MACRS class lives.
This presentation will be beneficial to commercial real estate developers and operators as well as tax professionals.
