Ziv Carmel, CCSP
Director of Engineering and Partner
Ziv is the Director of Engineering as well as a Partner at Capstan Tax Strategies. Over the past 10 years, he has provided the sophisticated technical analysis required to develop and employ engineering-based tax approaches.
Since 2001, Ziv has completed more than 1,000 cost segregation studies. He functions as lead engineer on multi-million-dollar portfolios spanning a variety of industries and provides a unique, customer-specific approach to each client. Office buildings, apartment complexes, shopping centers, and warehouses are common property types, but Ziv also has extensive experience with unusual properties—including golf courses, recycling plants, ethanol production facilities, and more. He enjoys working directly with real estate owners and CPAs, blending his technical abilities with solid tax strategies to maximize depreciation and savings.
As director of engineering, Ziv personally trains all Capstan engineers, utilizing the thorough methodology and unique tools he has developed over his 14 years in cost segregation. This ensures accuracy and consistency in all reports. Ziv also serves as the primary technical resource for his fellow engineers as well as company partners.
Ziv is a certified member (CCSP) of the American Society of Cost Segregation Professionals. Requiring a minimum of seven years of direct technical experience, this designation is the highest credential in the cost segregation industry, and is held by only a small number of industry professionals in the United States. Ziv is also a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers and is a proud alumnus of Chi Epsilon, the national Civil Engineering Honor Society.
Happily married with three children, Ziv enjoys volunteering in his community. He and his wife were recently recognized as Parents of the Year by their children’s school. Ziv is also a long-time member of his synagogue’s Advisory Board, where he coordinates ritual events and hospitality, and is a founding member of the Northeast Philadelphia Kollel (Institute for Advanced Talmudic Study).
Ziv holds a Master of Engineering with a concentration in Construction Management from the University of Buffalo.
