Zach Shaffer has extensive experience in cost segregation studies, having performed and overseen several million dollars worth of projects on a broad range of commercial properties. A natural leader, he has trained and managed staff engineers in two geographically distinct offices simultaneously.  

Education:  

  • Bachelor of Science (BS), Civil Engineering, University of Texas at Austin 
  • Master’s degree, Civil Engineering, University of Texas at Tyler  

Experience:  

  • Has performed hundreds of cost segregation studies and reviewed hundreds more  
  • Familiar with every property type, has a deep background in tax legislation and relevant court cases  
  • Always welcomes a challenge, naming a series of large-basis skyscrapers in Boston and complicated oil terminals in Louisiana among his most memorable projects  
  • Managed a team of 6 engineers — assigning projects, performing technical reviews, providing support – while continuing to perform cost segregation studies on the most complex projects himself 

Behind the Scenes:  

  • Zach and his wife Natalie make a habit of trying new restaurants, though he confesses a weakness for a good Texas-style steakhouse   
  • Enjoys volunteering in church and in the greater Dallas-Ft. Worth metro area
